For your information
Why You Can't Trust An IP Address As An Authenticator

In the Local Area Network...
Anyone can fake an IP address on the same LAN as the host you're trying to impersonate , you can find a machine you wish to impersonate, shut it down, and then set your own IP address to be the same as the machine you wish to impersonate, and go to it. If you want to do so from far away, however, you have to successfully attack the routing system of the network so that it will send packets to you (the impostor) instead of to the "real" host...
this give u a better view?
Ok, if you have a cable or a DSL modem, and you have connected a router to the modem of your choice (not on dial up of course), that in effect allows one of more of your computers to get hooked to the Internet wirelessly, your computers will have the same IP number. However, if for example, you are using one computer on a DSL and have connected no router, thus having no wireless Internet connection for another computer to access, and the other computer of yours is running on dial up or on another modem that is NOT connected to the first computer, then you have two seperate IP addresses because the computers are not wirelessly connected to each other. If you face this problem , your cable being " tapped " chances is high ....
better?
